{"id":6756,"date":"2023-05-17T09:12:02","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T08:12:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/?p=6756"},"modified":"2023-05-17T09:12:07","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T08:12:07","slug":"sonoff-ewelink-new-lawn-irrigation-scene","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/sonoff-ewelink-new-lawn-irrigation-scene\/","title":{"rendered":"Sonoff eWeLink New Lawn Irrigation Scene"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/lawn-irrigation-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Link to Irrigation Blog<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My existing <a href=\"https:\/\/sonoff.tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sonoff<\/a> watering control comprises of a Sonoff Basic to turn the irrigation pump ON\/OFF and a Sonoff 4 Channel Pro which controls which set of lawn valves to Open\/Close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My existing setup had an automatic scene to water the lawn when the grass had established, however, I wanted a Scene to automatically run for a newly seeded lawn which just kept the seed moist by frequent watering, but short in duration so as not to wash the seed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My existing system has a Rain Sensor, so if it has already rained, the scene would still run, but the power supply to the irrigation pump is removed until the rains sensor is happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>List of  Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Water the lawn every 3 hours <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start watering at 06:00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stop watering at 20:30<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sprinkler duration 5 minutes <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had to use another Sonoff Basic as a Smart Device trigger to start the irrigation scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Triggering Basic device setup  to have &#8216;Inching&#8217; enabled with a short duration &#8216;ON&#8217; time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up a schedule to turn the Basic on at the required times, (no OFF time is required as the Basic is in inching mode)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn the Basic schedule ON and save<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"508\" height=\"346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/basic.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/basic.jpg 508w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/basic-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_4557-Medium-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6759\" width=\"249\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_4557-Medium-1.png 343w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/IMG_4557-Medium-1-193x300.png 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 249px) 100vw, 249px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>Create a new Scene<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the IF action trigger to be the Smart Device Basic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the THEN actions<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-477x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6760\" width=\"289\" height=\"620\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-477x1024.jpg 477w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-140x300.jpg 140w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-768x1649.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-716x1536.jpg 716w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-954x2048.jpg 954w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lawn-scene2-scaled.jpg 1193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In my scene, the following happens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scene triggered by the Basic switching at the scheduled time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, irrigation pump turns on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And, the Irrigation Controller (4 channel Pro) switches power to Open sprinkler valves on two sections of my lawn<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>after a 5 minute delay the Irrigation Controller closes the two valves and opens another lawn areas valve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>after a further 5 minute delay, the irrigation pump turns off<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 seconds after the pump turns off, the irrigation controller closes all the valves (delayed to allow the water pressure to fall)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I had help with this from the eWeLink &amp;
