sharpened my lawn mower blade with a wet wheel grinding stone but the problem was getting an accurate cutting angle on the blade, looking around for a better solution, I came across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.allamericansharpener.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">All American Sharpener<\/a> which looked perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"All American Sharpener Tips &amp; Tricks\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UvbJKlxE0Ng?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The appeal of this sharpener was the repeatability\/accuracy of the blade grinding process and the fact that it makes use of an angle grinder that most DIYs already have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bad news is the cost, the current price on Amazon in the UK is \u00a3416.75 (2nd Nov 22) for a genuine All American Sharpener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being well outside my budget for an amateur,  I went straight to eBay and for \u00a356.97, bought a Model 5005 product which looked like it was based on the genuine version of the tool, however, its design was not simply not functional and I returned it for a refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I next looked at Aliexpress and found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aliexpress.com\/item\/1005004471546591.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.1fb61802ueXMsy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sharpener Model 5005 Gen 2 15\u00b0-45\u00b0 Adjustable&nbsp; Lawn Mower Blade Sharpener<\/a>, the cost including shipping was \u00a360.77, (this has since been reduced).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I ordered this on the 18th Oct 22 arriving 16 days later on the 2nd Nov 22 and I was immediately impressed with the quality of packaging and tool construction, the unit weighed in at 2.3kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sharpener came with all the parts I expected, so very happy, the things not provided are the fixing bolts to secure the unit to a suitable surface, (in my case I&#8217;m using a vice), a 5.5mm Allen key to tighten the mounting bracket to the sharpener and an 8mm Allen key to relax the arm joints.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do you use the sharpener?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-a7b51533-83e6-4417-96bc-9f01fccba627\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/mower-sharpener-min.pdf\">Blade Sharpener Instructions<\/a><a aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-a7b51533-83e6-4417-96bc-9f01fccba627\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aldi.co.uk\/flap-discs-4-pack\/p\/800706419057300\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Flapper discs<\/a> are recommended and the one I used was 80 grit which was bought from Aldi in an assorted pack for \u00a34.99.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sharpeners angle should be set to 30<sup>0<\/sup> for optimal cutting and due to the sharpeners design, the angle grinders cutting edge will now be perfectly aligned to allow the defined angle to be ground into the blade by simply moving the angle grinder up and down the blade which is the only movement the articulated arms allow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setup didn&#8217;t take long and after a few grinder passes, I had a nice sharp edges on the blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-getwid-images-slider has-arrows-inside my Titan Mower has an oval hole, this means getting the blade centered on the cone is difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" blades for the Titan TTB833LWM 230v corded mower purchased from Screwfix, if I&#8217;d known this, I wouldn&#8217;t have bought the mower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously I would like to support the original developers of the blade sharpening product, but the UK price point makes this unaffordable to me, I therefore took a chance with the Chinese marketplace, Aliexpress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It must be said that the quality of the sharpener is superb, all the attachments were included and I&#8217;m very impressed with the whole transaction, postage was more expensive than the tool itself, but nevertheless, I&#8217;m very happy with my purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Oregon blade balancer is a bit of self indulgence, the construction is solid and the rotation of the cone is very smooth, this will definitely last a
