{"id":3459,"date":"2019-12-05T11:49:43","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T11:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/?p=3459"},"modified":"2023-06-22T17:20:24","modified_gmt":"2023-06-22T16:20:24","slug":"sgc-auto-tuner-sg-237-repair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/sgc-auto-tuner-sg-237-repair\/","title":{"rendered":"SGC Auto-Tuner SG-237 Repair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG-237_pr106_1-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3460\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG-237_pr106_1-1024x683.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG-237_pr106_1-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG-237_pr106_1-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG-237_pr106_1.png 1026w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I have had the SG-237 for nearly 5 years and it has worked perfectly matching my random length wire across the bands, due to changes to the garden, I had to power down the SG-237 for a few weeks, on powering up, nothing would tune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Checking current to the tuner showed that no power was being drawn, so off came the lid, and out came the voltmeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tracing 12v through the circuit, it appeared their was a break between jumper J5 and the fuse holder, (the 2A fuse was in tact), but I couldn&#8217;t see any damage to the PCB tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"547\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG237-Power-Issue-547x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3462\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG237-Power-Issue-547x1024.jpg 547w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG237-Power-Issue-160x300.jpg 160w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/SG237-Power-Issue.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The reply from the SGC support ticket was within two days and their tech support said this was a very unusual fault and bridging from J5 to the base of the fuse holder was fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> I can only deduce that the track link is made within one of the layers of the multi layer PCB, I did try and re float all the relevant solder connections, but this didn&#8217;t work unfortunately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the end, I soldered a link from the diode, bypassing J5 as I&#8217;ll never remove the link to the fuse holder, this link now removes another future point of failure and everything works just fine \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-ce99a99c-98ce-4bc6-b3a7-c3c03bcc2e9d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/acoplador_auto_237man.pdf\">SG-237 Instruction Manual.pdf<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/acoplador_auto_237man.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-ce99a99c-98ce-4bc6-b3a7-c3c03bcc2e9d\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have had the SG-237 for nearly 5 years and it has worked perfectly matching my random length wire across the bands, due to changes to the garden, I had to power down the SG-237 for a few weeks, on powering up, nothing would tune.
