{"id":286,"date":"2014-08-23T20:13:52","date_gmt":"2014-08-23T20:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/?p=286"},"modified":"2022-04-06T10:18:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-06T09:18:42","slug":"pulley-arrangement-longwire-pole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/pulley-arrangement-longwire-pole\/","title":{"rendered":"Pulley Arrangement &#8211; Longwire Pole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thought I would share how I have configured my pulley setup to allow the longwire and insulator to be lowered from a height of 6m for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>All parts used with the exception of the pole itself were via eBay.<\/p>\n<p>Starting with a galvanized steel 6m scaffold pole &#8211;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5127.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-272\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5127-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SAM_5127\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5127-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5127-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>8mm hole drilled approximately 30mm down from the end of the pole, this distance is to allow the end cap to fully locate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5129.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-274\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5129-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SAM_5129\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5129-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5129-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stainless steel eye bolt complete with stainless steel&nbsp;pulley secured through pole. The pulley has a detachable bracket which allowed me the fix it to the eye bolt. &nbsp;I have used a spring washer to reduce the chance of the eye bolt working loose, the blue sleeve is used to protect the threads.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5130.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-275\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5130-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SAM_5130\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5130-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chatteris.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/SAM_5130-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The next part was to install the cord sleeve, this allows the cord (7 strand 550 Paracord Parachute Cord Type3)&nbsp;to drop within the pole to reduce any wind noise and also to keep the elements off the cord.
